Orlando is the best place to meet a woman you already know when you live in Tampa (Marriage: Episode 2)

I originally wrote Episode 1 in April of 2010. I promised Suzanna-bread Episode 2 would shortly follow...oops. Well it is now November of 2010 and Suzanne has been super patient. So, I decided to get this story back on schedule.

Episode 2

At the end of Episode 1 Suzanne and I were sitting next to each other at dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe in Universal Studios, Orlando. We initially were sitting far from each other at the table, but a circuitous series of events led to an improvement in proximity. In fact, here is a picture of that moment:

At this moment, we had no idea what was going to happen. How nice someone else realized they should take a picture of us on the night our lives would change.

After dinner we headed over to Disney's Beach Club Resort. There is a huge lake there with a boardwalk around it. The boardwalk has beautiful, turn of the century (last century) style beach resort hotels, restaurants and dance clubs. We found one not-so-busy club to go to:

At first the club was awesome, because the played music videos for horrible songs from the 80s and 90s. But then we noticed the place was empty, completely empty. In fact, we were not even sure if we were there. We wondered why it was empty. Maybe there was some other event going on. Maybe there had been a bomb threat and no one told us. Wait, no, I found it. It was the horrible music. It wasn't just bad, it was the worst stuff ever. Here are some of the headliners:

Kris Kross

M.C. Hammer

Vanilla Ice

With a set list like this, and worse, it is no wonder Suzanne made a disappearing act. After about 20 minutes into the ceremonial parody of pop-star dance moves which we were rehearsing on the dance floor, I decided to go find Suzanne. I checked the entire club, which was easy to do while standing in the middle of the dance floor since the place was completely empty. She was nowhere to be found. I was going to check the lady's room, but decided to check outside first. Outside I found Suzanne sitting on a bench over by the railing of the board walk:

...wait, maybe it was this bench...

...actually, it could have been any of these three benches...

I stood in the doorway to the club for a moment contemplating my options. I wanted to go sit on the bench with her, but I knew something would happen if I did. Maybe the Millennium Falcon would crash into my car. I had no clue what would happen but I knew it would be huge. I started walking over to her. Part of me was screaming "Don't do it! Hon Solo doesn't have insurance!" But, my curiosity overwhelmed me and let's face it, Suzanne is hot.

I sat down next to her and said "[clip missing]." Too bad I don't remember what I said to her, I bet it was as awesome as Batman going supernova and the entire solar system getting covered with ninja dust.

At some point my memory kicked in and this is what I remember: We started talking about doing things outdoors. I mentioned a place we could go Kayaking. I told her I would call her to make more specific plans. But, in order to keep her guessing, and because I forgot, I didn't ask for her number.

Eventually everyone came out of the club and it was time to go. We all walked out to the parking-lot and said our goodbyes. Some of us were heading back to our hotels and some were heading back to Tampa. Suzanne was going back to Tampa. I was going to a hotel. We didn't even hug to say goodbye. I wish we had.

To be continued.
